Mr. Chris Goes to Cleveland – Pt. VIII: The Parked Car
Like all good adventure blogs, this one has to have some suspense to keep you on your toes. Well, fear not dear readers, that’s precisely what we have in this next story about the mysterious parked car. Where to begin. Let me see, it was a dark and stormy night. Ok, not really. Well, it was dark and snowy (sorta), so that’s at least half true.
The story began one evening when a few of us were hanging out in the front room of my friends house. At some point, no one really knows when, we noticed a strange car parked across the street from their house. It was sitting there with its parking lights on and nothing else. And it was sitting there for a long time, not just the usual waiting for someone to come out time, but like stalking you long time.
The car pictured here does not resemble in any way, shape or form the car that was parked out front of their house. In fact, it’s not even the right time of day! But since I failed to get a picture of the “mystery car” in question, I figured this would be second best. Ok, so back to our story.
The assembled crowd, Professor Plum, Miss Scarlett, Mrs. White and Mr. Green, were all sitting in the front parlor talking when someone suddenly screamed, drawing out attention to the car outside. Ok, it was probably more likely a dog bark than a scream, but play along for the fun of it. After some deliberation amongst ourselves we determined that we did not recognize the car, and furthermore, we were not even sure if there was anyone in the car at all. Due to the combination of the angle of light, the low hanging awning and the winter glare on the dark window glass it was impossible to surmise for sure if there were any passengers inside. And unfortunately no one had a spotting glass on them at the time, so we were out of luck. For those more visually-inclined readers I have attempted to recreate the setting of this fanciful tale as best I can. Apologies for poor cropping.
So there we were in the front parlor, debating what to do. Should we walk over and talk with the neighbors, to see if it was their car? Should we phone the bobbies and let them sort it out? Should we dress in all black like a secret ninja task force and steal our way to the car to investigate? Should we just ignore it and go on about our business. I’d like to say a fierce debate raged, but in fact it was more like a 5 minute discussion, ending with the final decision to just keep watching from the comfort of our warm interior.
So how does this story end, you may be asking. Truth be told, I don’t know. We got bored with car watching and went onto other things, leaving the car to its own accord. I never did find out what happened to the car…
Stay tuned for the final exciting installment of my adventures in the land of the Cleves in Part IX: The Girl.
Until next time…who dunnit?
